Supporting your Health with Herbal Tea

Herbal teas are a fantastic way to include a mindful moment in your day while introducing gentle herbs to support your body in so many different ways.

They are warm and nourishing in winter yet refreshing and cooling in the summer months.

My favourite tea range to enjoy is Brewed By Belinda. These tea blends are award-winning and thoughtfully created by Belinda, a Certified Tea Master and Tea Blender.

Belinda creates her brews to be delicious to taste but also fabulous to look at. The experience starts as soon as you open your tea and look inside.

I often get asked for recommendations, so here is my list of the teas I reach for when supporting different areas of health.

Nervous system support:

These teas are great to support you through stressful periods or anxious moments. Suppose you are someone who struggles to relax or has regular fast pace days. In that case, it may be beneficial for you to include a few cups in your day to help nourish the nervous system that is working so hard for you.

Creativitea - this beautiful blend contains chamomile and organic lemon balm, nourishing for the nervous system and an unhappy gut. It also has Got Kola, a nervine tonic and adaptogenic, known to aid in anxiety, concentration and cognitive performance.

Opening Night Nerves - perfect for when you need a few deep breaths. When teaching my body to remember how to relax after finishing my uni degree, this one was my go-to. It's full of beautiful soothing herbs - peppermint, chamomile, lemongrass, lavender and passionflower.

Mummy Moment - Belinda and I created this one together with a busy new Mum in mind. This one has beautiful nervous system herbs - lemon balm, chamomile, passionflower and the adaptogenic herb Shatavari.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding:

Teas can be a beautiful way to add gentle, nourishing herbal support during this time.

Little Wonder - Belinda and I created this one for the early stages of pregnancy. To help reduce any nerves, soothe feelings of nausea and give your energy a little boost.

About to Pop - This one is to support the later stages of pregnancy. The herbs in this blend help prepare the uterus for labour and reduce digestive symptoms that can be common during this time.

Liquid Gold - This beautiful blend is full of galactagogue herbs that can help to promote the flow of mothers milk.

Mummy Moment - A beautiful, nourishing blend to encourage Mums to take a moment for themselves.

Skin & Detoxification:

The skin is one of our organs of elimination. It helps the body to absorb and excrete. We often do a lot to support our skin from the outside in. However, there are incredible benefits when you nourish from the inside out! Tea is one way we can do this.

Look at You Glow - Created with a focus on skin health. This blend has herbs such as dandelion leaf to promote detoxification and reduce puffiness or fluid retention. It also has calendula, a herb known for its powerful skin healing benefits.

Drama Queen - I love this tea for skin and detoxification. It contains nettle, a depurative herb that improves detoxification and eliminates waste products in the body.

Digestion:

The list of reasons to support your digestive health with tea is endless.

Tea can provide symptomatic relief from bloating and can help to break down gas. It helps to hydrate the bowel so waste can move out quickly and easily. Tea is full of polyphenols when help to fuel our microbiome. It also works on the gut-brain connection - soothing the nervous system soothes the gut and vis versa.

I chose these teas specifically for symptomatic relief; however, almost all teas could benefit digestion somehow.

Perfect Composition - Organic peppermint tea. Great for soothing discomfort in the bowel, especially when it comes to muscle spasms or breaking down gas.

Liquid Gold - This blend was created for milk production, but it's full of herbs to help soothe the digestive system. Great for gas and bloating.

About to Pop -This one was created for late pregnancy, but it is full of beautiful digestive herbs. This one would be delicious after meals to help you to digest food well.

Sleep:

Tea is a great way to support sleep. It helps you create a routine to wind down at the end of the day, and the herbs promote relaxation and sleepiness. Make this one 30minutes before bed. Turn all the lights down. Diffuse some lavender oil and drift off into a deep restorative sleep.

Blackout - my go-to nighttime blend.

Immune Support:

Herbal teas can be an incredible support to your immune health. They can provide symptomatic relief as well as help to modulate your immune system.

5 Minute Call - This one contains green tea, which is full of antioxidants. It also has elderflower, which is used traditionally to relieve symptoms of the common cold. I also love drinking this one as an after-lunch pick-me-up.

Red Lorry Yellow Lorry - This is a soothing blend that may help with preventing and treating sore throats. It has the gorgeous immune enhancing herb echinacea.

Thyme Tea  - If you have a sore throat coming on, pick some thyme from the garden, pour over some hot water. Allow it to cool to drinking temp and sip. Great with a bit of raw local honey and ginger.
