Journaling Challenge

Journaling is a great tool to have to help clear your head, shift your mood and reduce negative thoughts.

It can also help you to set goals, make plans and uncover your deepest desires.

As a naturopath I often recommend journaling as part of a treatment plan to help reduce stress and priorities taking time out. The two most common objections I get are:

  1. I don’t have time

  2. I don’t know what to write.

Like anything we want to change, we have to first make time for it. There are so many different topics you can journal about, in fact you don’t even need a topic. You can just write what is on your mind and get it out on to paper.

The benefits of journaling:

  • Shift in mood.

  • Calm and clear mind

  • Release of negative feelings and emotions

  • Improved cognitive function

A clear mind can also help you to fall to sleep easily as well as reduce stress, anxiety and depression.

Writing down your thoughts can also help you to realise and manifest your dreams, find answers to questions and create plans for achieving goals.

Different types of Journaling:

  • Brain Dump Journaling - write down what you are thinking for a page or more. Don’t let your pen stop until the page is finished. It might not make sense however, it can help to clear your mind as well as help you to understand why you a feeling a certain way.

  • Gratitude Journaling - Write down what you are grateful for. This can instantly shift your mood as well as help you to understand what is most important to you.

  • Letters to the Universe - This is great for manifesting your goals and dreams. It can also be used as a way to vent or ask for help.

  • Recount your day - Just like you would back in priamary school. Write down what happened during your day, what things you liked, what you learnt, what you could have done better, what you ate and everything in between. It can be used similar to brain dump journaling or a keepsake journal to look back on.
